Notes of laser machine cutting different materials
With the development of laser cutting technology, the field of laser cutting is becoming more and more widely used. However, different materials have different characteristics, so when using laser cutting machine, we need to pay attention to the matter.
Structural steel
The material will be cutted in good results with oxygen. When cutting with oxygen, the cutting edge is slightly oxidized. For the thickness of 4mm, we can use nitrogen for high pressure cutting. In this case, the cutting edge is not oxidized. When cutting more than 10mm thickness sheet, the laser using special plate and in processing to the workpiece surface oiling can get better effect.
Stainless steel
Cutting stainless steel need use oxygen, in the case of the edge of the oxidation is not related. Using nitrogen in order to get no oxidation without burr edge, you do not need to treat the edage again. In the sheet metal surface coating film will get better perforation effect, but not reduce the processing quality.
Aluminum
In spite of high reflectivity and thermal conductivity, the thickness of 6mm can be cut, which depends on the type of the alloy and the ability of the laser.
When cut with oxygen, the cutting surface is rough and hard.
With nitrogen, the cutting surface is smooth.
Pure aluminum because of its high purity is very difficult to cut, only in the system to install a reflective absorption device to cut aluminum. Otherwise the reflection would destroy the optical components.
Titanium
When cut titanium plate,we should use argon and nitrogen. Other parameters can refer to nickel chromium steel.
Copper and brass
The two materials have high reflectivity and very good thermal conductivity. Below the thickness of 1mm brass can be cut with nitrogen; the thickness of the following 2mm copper can be cut, processing gas must use oxygen. Only when the system is fitted with a "reflection absorption" device can be cut copper and brass. Otherwise the reflection would destroy the optical components.
Synthetic material
Cutting synthetic materials to keep in mind the danger of cutting and the possible discharge of hazardous substances. Synthetic materials can be processed are: thermoplastic, heat hardening material and artificial rubber.
Organic compound
There is a danger of fire in all organic matter (using nitrogen as the working gas, and compressed air as the working gas). Wood, leather, cardboard and paper can be cut by laser, cutting edge will be burnt (brown)
